Nudibranchs, a group of soft-bodied and immensely colourful molluscs, are often mistaken for sea slugs. But these gastropods couldn't be more different — or more interesting. Their scientific name translates literally as "naked-gills", because their breathing apparatus is generally exposed. They are also all hermaphrodites; they have male and female sexual abilities, but they do not inseminate themselves.

Name this creature
1. They're naked!
The following was written for The Fatherly Forum , a community of parents and influencers with insights about work, family, and life. I played high school football, and never showered with the team after practice. My shyness and discomfort have persisted even in the context of romantic relationships. My wife, on the other hand, is perpetually in a state of nudity or partial nudity. This past year we gave birth to twin girls, now 6 months old. As our baby girls are slowly becoming more aware of themselves and the world around them, we started thinking about how our nudity will impact their psychological development and self-image. Over the holidays, we started asking some of our more seasoned peers how they approach parental nudity.

I've always been modest with my body. However, I've always been very open about bodies in general -- I use anatomically accurate words for my kids' body parts and rolled my eyes at my peers who laughed at the word "penis" in health class. My mom was a nurse, so it helps that things like that were everyday conversation for her. You pee from a penis; breast milk comes from breasts. Not everyone sees things that way. Many of us struggle with seeing something as simple as women breastfeeding their babies, despite the fact that there is art of Mary breastfeeding Jesus much more openly than modern women do. We even have folks who think showering with a toddler of the opposite sex is somehow abuse. So, it's no surprise that when children draw pictures of nudity and people freak out. Even teachers.
Yesterday, Flickr revealed the Top 25 Photos on Flickr in , simultaneously wowing photography fans and reminding people that Flickr is still an active community of millions of photographers from across the globe. That's right Instagram The top 25 includes dreamy childhood portraits by Iwona Podlasinska and Elena Shumilova , a spectacular eruption photo by Albert Dros , a perfectly-timed wildlife photo by Salah Baazizi , and much much more. Flickr was kind enough to share the top 15 with DPReview, so you can scroll through those in the gallery above. I like the first photo and line of stories in pictures Iwona Podlasinska creates with images. I don't get all the bashing the author is getting. I was quite impressed actually. Not my cup of tea. Skilled photographers and more though. Glad to see flickr featured, some interesting groups, every genre.
